(0730) Amber and I have been very busy the last few days so pictures will have to come later. When Olivia was born she was found to have esophageal atresia and Tracheo-Espohageal fistula. This required surgical repair and what is looking like an extended hospital stay. She had surgery on saturday and is still on the ventilator, we are hoping to get her off the ventilator today. the next step is to check to make sure the reapired esophagous and trachea don't leak. (1606) Just got back from the hospital, today was a very good day. They took Olivia off the ventilator and will try to feed her through the nasogastric tube this afternoon. Tomorrow is the x-ray to see if the surgical repair is leaking, if it is not we will be able to attempt breast or bottle feeding to see how she tolerates that. We are taking everything one step at a time, each hurdle must be jumped and we focus on the one directly ahead. We are praying that the X-ray shows no leak so we can put that hurdle behind us. Olivia seems to be doing so well and every time I go to the Hospital it takes everything I have to not break down, but Olivia is strong and Amber and I must be as well.
